Senator Cortez Masto (Nevada) visits Acelero Learning Center in Clark County
Senator highlights continued support for Head Start and educators, acknowledging critical role education plays in helping children to get ahead
On Thursday, May 30, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) visited Acelero Spring Valley Learning Center in Las Vegas to express her continued support for Head Start programs across Nevada. Senator Cortez Masto met with teachers, administrations, and students, and highlighted her work to pass legislation that will deliver critical support to help hire and retain Head Start teachers and staff.
“We know that every child can succeed if they’re given the proper tools to grow, and it’s so critical that we make early childhood learning programs accessible for all Nevada families,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “That’s why this year I was proud to support an increase in funding for Head Start programs like Acelero. I’m going to continue to do everything I can to support our educators and help Nevada kids get ahead.”
With the support of funding from the Head Start program, Acelero Learning provides direct early childhood learning for more than 1,100 children and their families in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson, which sit within Clark County, Nevada. Dr. Rory B. Sipp, Senior Vice President, Acelero Learning Head Start, said, “We are honored to have Senator Cortez Masto join us at Acelero Clark County today. We are especially grateful for the Senator’s commitment to early childhood education, including the critical federal funding that supports the important work our teachers, staff, and community partners do every day to make an impact in the lives of children and their families throughout Clark County.”
Senator Cortez Masto has been an ardent supporter of Head Start; earlier this year, Senator Cortez Masto passed legislation to deliver over $12.2 billion to Head Start for Fiscal Year 2024 – a $275 million increase over the prior year. You can read the full press release here.
